Welcome to Dernancourt Kindergarten
Dernancourt Kindergarten acknowledges and respects the Traditional Custodians whose ancestral lands we live and play upon. We pay our respects to their Elders, past and present. We acknowledge and respect the deep spiritual connection and the relationship that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have to Country. We also pay respects to the cultural authority of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their nations in South Australia, as well as those across Australia.
At Dernancourt Kindergarten we aim to provide a safe, nurturing learning environment where each child is valued as an individual. Our Kindergarten is a community where educators, families and children work collaboratively towards a program which is socially and culturally inclusive. We foster their learning and creativity through a play based curriculum using the Early Years Learning Framework.
We recognise the importance of self-esteem, building on prior knowledge and the interests of each child in order to experience success. At Dernancourt Kindergarten we encourage children to have fun and discover the joy of learning.
We have a large outdoor area where children can play games, run, ride bikes and be involved in caring for our garden.
We offer a fun educational curriculum that is welcoming and responsive to the needs of children and parents in a community environment. The kindergarten program is based on play and focuses on providing learning experiences based on individual children's needs.
We focus on Nature Play, Numeracy and literacy development, use the "You Can Do It" program and the National Curriculum "Being, Belonging and Becoming".
